Counseling Services

I provide individual counseling services to people who are struggling with difficult life situations. Counseling, sometimes called “therapy” or “psychotherapy”, is a collaborative process through which people work one-on-one with a therapist who is trained in various helping theories and therapeutic techniques in a safe, empathetic, and private setting. Counseling is an opportunity for people to explore their thoughts, beliefs, emotions, behaviors, and physical sensations, to facilitate self-awareness and psychological flexibility, as well as confront obstacles that interfere with their well-being and prevent them from living a rich and meaningful life. Through this process people can gain a better understanding of themselves or others, increase the practice of self-compassion, practice setting boundaries, explore and clarify their values and set personal goals, and work towards desired change.

People come to see me for a variety of reasons including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychological, physical, and emotional trauma, childhood abuse and neglect, sexual abuse or assault, compassion fatigue and burnout, substance overuse/abuse/dependence, relationship issues, chronic illness including autoimmune disorders, and employment-related problems. I have dedicated my career to helping others and am privileged that I get to do this type of work.

My research and greatest passion is around the importance of caregiver well-being and working with providers who experience constant exposure to trauma and suffering.
